RE: The So-Called Global Poverty Act Is A Scam! Kill It At All Costs!
S.2433, the Global Poverty Act, may come up for a vote at any time and I am urging you to do everything in your power to stop its passage.
Obviously the concept
of eliminating poverty around the world would appear, on
the surface, to be a good thing. And since no one wants
to be on the record as not wanting to combat poverty,
you will -- without a doubt -- feel pressure from some
of your less courageous peers and the media to let this
horrendous bill pass!
It is not humane to burden the American taxpayer with
billions in additional foreign aid. It is more than
unacceptable. And moreover, if history is to be our
guide, these monies often wind up lining the pockets of
third-world tyrants and bureaucrats who hate America and
do very little to help those who are truly in need --
remember the Oil for Food scandal!
The American people will be watching and will not
tolerate massive United Nations style giveaways that are
passed in the dark of night -- or in broad daylight for
that matter. Expose S. 2433 for what it is; a
stealth bill and a dagger aimed at the heart of
America’s sovereignty. I urge you to stand firm for what
is right and not to buckle under the pressure.
Filibuster if you must but kill S. 2433 by any means
necessary!
Sincerely,
Your Signature Will Be Recreated Here

Just to keep things in perspective...
In Fiscal Year 2006, the United States spent $1.06 trillion dollars -- that's $1,060,000,000,000.00, or approximately $3500.00 for every man, woman and child in the United States -- on Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare.
If Senator Barack Obama has his way, the United States could very well be committed to spending $0.85 trillion -- much of it going to third world dictators and despots that hate our guts -- under the guise of fighting "global poverty."
In the 1960's President Lyndon Johnson declared a War on Poverty. 30 years later, not content with a failure to eradicate poverty on a national scale, Obama and liberals in the Senate want to duplicate that failure on a global scale!
Of course we're talking about Barack Obama's so-called Global Poverty Act (S. 2433), which according to some conservative sources, would commit all of us to a stealth United Nations inspired global tax of $845 billion on top of the $300 billion per year the United States already shells out in foreign aid.
When we first alerted you to the Global Poverty Act several weeks ago it was literally flying under the radar.
In fact the House of Representatives actually passed the bill on a voice vote because many Members simply weren't paying attention.
According to CNS News, "the bill came attached to a mammoth 3,000-page piece of legislation at the end of the legislative session, meaning that congressmen barely had time to even read the overall legislation before voting on the bill -- and there was no way to target specific line items."
Then you took action! Your calls and Blast Faxes made a huge difference and drove this stealth United Nations style give away out into the open. Make no mistake, the Global Poverty Act is firmly in the crosshairs and YOU deserve a great deal of the credit for getting this ball rolling.
And now that you've gotten the attention of our elected officials, it's time to finish the job.
We simply can not rest on our laurels and hope to coast to victory on this one... it's too important!
Let's finish the job, RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW, and kill this dastardly bill one and for all.

Actually, Liberals Do Think You Are Stupid!
Once the stench of this horrendous bill hit the open air, the liberal blogosphere went into overdrive. They tried to convince you that this was all just some strange conspiracy theory.
According to the George Soros funded website Media Matters:
"But the bill would not 'require America to pay tax to the U.N.' ... the bill would establish no specific funding source; it would not commit the United States to any targeted level of spending."
Of course, Media Matters was only telling part of the story... much like the little boy who accidentally throws his baseball into the cookie jar and breaks it -- knowing he is not supposed to play ball in the house -- and tells his mother; "I didn't TOUCH the cookie jar!"
In fact, the Global Poverty Act gives no specific figures.
It does however specifically direct the President to implement a strategy to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goal.
Specifically the Global Poverty Act states that the President and the Secretary of State:
"[S]hall develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further... the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal."
And just what is this Millennium Development Goal?
WorldNetDaily.com quotes Cliff Kincaid with Accuracy in Media who has some expertise in the matter:
"The bill defines the term 'Millennium Development Goals' as the goals set out in the United Nations Millennium Declaration..."
And since we're on the subject of the United Nations Millennium Declaration, it might also interest you to know:
"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child."
But that's not all:
"Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims."
"[T]he legislation, if approved, dedicates 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which over 13 years... would amount to $845 billion 'over and above what the U.S. already spends.'"
Read enough?

Are You Saying That Liberals Are Not Being Square With Us?
Why would the Soros-funded Media Matters mislead the public?
So what? ... the fact that Soros has dedicated $50 million to the advancement of the Millennium Goals, and the fact that he has dedicated his life to advancing socialism world-wide (which the Global Poverty Act would certainly help accomplish) should not factor into the equation.
To quote Soros:
"The untrammeled intensification of laissez-faire capitalism and the spread of market values into all areas of life, is endangering our open and democratic society."
Then there's Senator Joseph Biden who rushed the Global Poverty Act out of committee and issued a report that stated: "implementing S. 2433 would cost less than $1 million per year..."
Huh? How can that be?
Once again, the bill specifically states that the President and the Secretary of State: "[S]hall develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further... the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal."
Developing and implementing a strategy SHOULD cost under a million dollars a year.
The unanswered question... the other shoe just waiting to be dropped is... how much will it cost us to ACTUALLY ACT upon that strategy once we are committed?
Cliff Kincaid believes the answer is $845 billion dollars on top of the $300 billion per year we already spend on foreign aid!
Of course one thing is certain, when it's all said and done, Biden will be able to say that he "didn't touch the cookie jar"... unless of course "he votes against it after he votes for it!"
Seriously though, if liberals really believe Kincaid is wrong, then why don't they stop parsing and simply challenge his figures?
Then again, why give Kincaid the courtesy of a serious and reasonable response... maybe he (and you and I for that matter) is just, as Obama so aptly put it, one of those "small-town people who cling to God, guns and hostility toward immigrants to cope with their bitterness... ."
You blew the whistle on the Global Poverty Act. Now let's shut the door once and for all!

It Gets Worse!
Just for laughs, here are some of the additional provisions of the Millennium Development Goal:
a "currency transfer tax," that is, a tax imposed on companies and individuals who must exchange dollars for foreign currency;
a "tax on the rental value of land and natural resources";
a "royalty on worldwide fossil energy projection -- oil, natural gas, coal";
"fees for the commercial use of the oceans, fees for airplane use of the skies, fees for use of the electromagnetic spectrum, fees on foreign exchange transactions, and a tax on the carbon content of fuels."
a "standing peace force," meaning a standing United Nations army that might, in time, be large enough to force us to bend to its will;
a "UN arms register of all small arms and light weapons," the beginning of the end of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution;
the "eradication of poverty" by the "redistribution [of] wealth and land" -- How do you suppose the United Nations expects to "redistribute" the land and the wealth? And what country do you think the third-world majority will go after first?
cancellation of "the debts of developing countries,"
"a fair distribution of the earth's resources."
and "political control of the global economy."
In other words, it's a blueprint for a world government, owned and operated by the United Nations.
One thing is clear: the Millennium Development Goal is a dagger aimed at the heart of America.
Let's kill this bill once and for all... RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW!
